Vineyard Wedding in Kakheti: Romance and Wine

Kakheti is the heart of Georgian winemaking and one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world. Endless vineyards, medieval monasteries, charming villages, and the Alazani Valley set against the backdrop of the Caucasus Mountains — this is where the most atmospheric weddings come to life.

Why Kakheti

Kakheti is Georgia's Tuscany — only more authentic and far less touristy. Here you won't find crowds of tourists — just grapevines stretching to the horizon, clay qvevri amphorae buried in the earth, and sunsets so beautiful they could bring you to tears.

  • Distance from Tbilisi: 1–2 hours by car
  • Best season: May–June (blooming) and September–October (harvest)
  • Wedding styles: rustic, boho, vintage, Italian-inspired
  • Venue capacity: from 2 to 200 guests

Top Venues

Chateau Mere Winery

A modern winery featuring a designer restaurant and a terrace overlooking the Alazani Valley. Minimalist architecture, estate wines, and impeccable cuisine. Ideal for weddings of 30–80 guests.

Estate in Sighnaghi

Sighnaghi is the "City of Love," where the marriage registry office operates 24/7 (the only one in the world!). Historic houses perched on the fortress wall, cobblestone streets, and views of the Alazani Valley. A wedding here feels like a fairy tale.

Alaverdi Monastery

One of the oldest churches in Georgia (6th century), surrounded by vineyards. An outdoor ceremony with the cathedral as your backdrop is breathtakingly majestic. The reception can be arranged at a nearby winery.

Kakhuri Winery

A family-owned winery with centuries-old traditions. Clay qvevri, a cellar with a tasting room, and an open terrace. An intimate atmosphere for weddings of up to 40 guests. The owners personally conduct a tasting for you and your guests.

Wine Program for Your Wedding

A wedding in Kakheti is an opportunity to make wine a part of your wedding ritual:

  • Pre-reception tasting — welcome glasses accompanied by a sommelier's guide to Georgian grape varieties
  • Qvevri ceremony — the newlyweds together open a qvevri of wine that has been aged especially for their wedding
  • Custom wine labels — personalized bottles featuring the couple's names and wedding date
  • Wine pairing — each course of the reception is accompanied by a specially selected wine
  • Toast from the horn — a traditional Georgian toast from a silver or bone drinking horn

Photography in the Vineyards

The vineyards of Kakheti are a wedding photographer's dream. Endless rows of vines, soft golden light, mountains in the background — every frame looks straight out of a magazine. It is especially beautiful in September, when the grapes ripen and the leaves begin to turn gold.

We arrange photo sessions across multiple locations: vineyards, an ancient fortress, Sighnaghi, a monastery — we plan the route to capture the best light at each spot.

"We wanted a wedding like in Tuscany, but we got something far more real. Kakheti is Tuscany without the pretense."

— Maria and Georgy, September 2024
